So the question I ask...does anyone think that Lydia, who was conviently absent from the wedding have some insider knowledge of what was going to happen, or maybe even have something to do with planning what happened? Also...does anyone think that Lily or Pam could have somehow survived? This is what I am thinking, just wonderin what everyone else's thoughts and/or opinions might be.

I have my suspicions that J. Lydia knew something was going to happen, and yes, that he might even have something to do with it. I doubt, however, that he knew this would happen. After all, alot of his own people were there. Heck, as far as we know, they all were there. I doubt he would sacrifice his supporters and star super just for political gain and publicity.

I believe Pam survived, I have no doubts about that. She's a tough cookie, after all. The only time she's ever even bled was when Lily cut her. I'm sure she could take an explosion of this magnitude with minor damage.

Lily, though. I'm not so sure. She has to survive, I believe this, but how, is the question. She's not as invulnerable as Pam, has no protective defenses like her sister, Dandi, and is probably so out of touch with everything happening in her personal life that you could drop a house on her without her noticing much. If Lily did survive, it was not by her own hand, that's for certain. Someone else must have saved her.

I think it's important to fit this into the wider scheme of churches blowing up; there's probably a strong relation between this and the earlier church explosions, and there's not much of an angle there for Lydia. I think the bishop is the immediate culprit here--he's implicated in the earlier church bombings by the filler story with the priest visting the Seeress, and he did express a strong interest in the wedding--but after that it's hard to tell who's pulling the strings and why. (Well, obviously the Seeress is doing more than her fair share of string-pulling, but it's doubly hard to guess her motivation). I think Lydia is mostly just a pawn in all this, though, and I have a feeling he's about to be sacrificed: this is just going to be a prelude to a bigger threat which is going to be completely beyond the cops' ability to handle, and the city will be saved by vigilante superheroes just in time for the election.

Then there's always the alternate off-the-wall theory: Ray did it! It was Ray all along! The double negative he blurted out in Chapter 1 was a Freudian slip: it's literally true that he didn't blow up no churches, because he had already blown up a church.

Kidding aside, I think you're right about Pam and Tigerlily. I'm thinking Pam might be the one that saves Lily--it was stated explicitly that there weren't any other superheroes there, so if Pam starts looking for survivors she'll have to pick between saving Tigerlily or saving 299 or so ashy smears. If Pam's would-be revelation is what I think it is, they could even end up together. Lily is a troubled girl, but maybe deep down all she needs is a 9-foot-tall amazon to love. Awww.

But probably not.

The bishop is suspicious, yeah, but I'd be inclined to think that he's just a pawn, like Lydia and Pamela and Perfect's team. Caution, evil forces at work, take detour on left.

I think most of your comments are pretty on the mark though.

Pamela and Tigerlily ... interesting idea. Or perhaps Pamela could wallop Stacy in a misguided effort to win Lily's admiration, only to have Lily distraught and hating Pamela as a result ... wait, Stacy's probably dead already. Damn! :P
